We foster the development and presentation of new works of contemporary puppet theater.

MANUFACTURING MISCHIEF by Pedro Reyes, written By Paul Hufker and directed by Meghan Finn (June 2018)

The Tank fosters the development and presentation of new, live puppetry works, with a focus on innovation on the form, and includes shows that feature puppetry exclusively, or productions that utilize other media and genres, with a substantial portion of the piece featuring puppetry that is well-executed in both design and performance.

Past puppetry artists who have screened work at The Tank over the years include Doppelskope, Sinking Ship, Mark Fox, and Pedro Reyes.

Puppet Playlist is a regular evening series of puppetry and music by some of New York’s most interesting puppeteers and singer-songwriters. Each show has a theme inspired by a musician or band. Each show features original puppet acts, alternating with live covers, based on the theme musician or band.

Performers (and their work) have been seen all over New York, across the country, and throughout the world, on, off- and off-off-Broadway, at HERE Arts Center, Shakespeare in the Park, the Metropolitan Opera, FringeNYC, Lincoln Center, with Jim Henson Productions, and on both American and International TV.
