About the Showing

Featuring translations by Annie Baker, Paul Schmidt, and Laurence Senelick

New Saloon orchestrates 16 performers and three translations of Chekhov's charming 1897 mopefest: a triple decker Uncle Vanya. Sweeping in scope and microscopic in focus, this prismatic new telling of the domestic tragedy cross-examines scenes from country life. Multiple versions of every thought reverberate and nothing changes: All I want is a new life, tell me where to find one, where should I look?
