You're Doing Great

Part of Dead Parents Club

About the Show

After 53 years of marriage, both of Sharon Spell's parents passed away, 18 days apart and unbeknownst to the other. That month she and her siblings suddenly found themselves working together in making difficult decisions. Afterward, she did what any normal person in mourning would do: she wrote a comedy show about it.

"You're Doing Great!" is a 60-minute storytelling show that has been well-received by audiences in New York & Toronto. The story is heartbreaking but the show is hilarious. So don't worry, she really is doing great. Now, did anybody bring cake?

About the Festival

If you’re not a member of the Dead Parents Club yet … you will be. That’s why the Tank has brought some of New York City’s top performers to share their harrowing, heartwarming, and often hilarious true life stories of being part of the worst club we all eventually have to join. The Dead Parents Club Solo Show Festival will be held at our partner theater, Standard ToyKraft in Williamsburg, and features storytellers who have performed on The Moth MainStage, RISK! Live, Snap Judgment, and in storytelling festivals and shows literally across the globe.

About Standard ToyKraft

Standard ToyKraft is an artist run theater that offers low-cost performance and rehearsal space as well as a puppet shop and private studios for visual artists. The founders of STK discovered a derelict factory floor located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With lots of blood, sweat and more tears than any of us care to admit we transformed this old sweatshop into a community organization. At the core Standard Toykraft is a community endeavor. Our community of artists continues to grow in this tough city because, we provide a supportive refuge for the development of work. We also produce many of our own shows and events including puppet slams, variety shows, vaudevillian weirdness and various spectacles for the amusement of our patrons.
