A Concert of New Music

About the Show:

Come experience an afternoon of new music on Sunday, Oct. 15th at 3 pm in The Tank’s new space!

Created by emerging composers from the NYU Steinhardt graduate program, the original pieces in this concert break boundaries and create new sound worlds by exploring diverse musical genres and techniques. Whether you’re a fan of electronic music, classical guitar, or avant-garde saxophone, this showcase will have something for everyone interested in innovative work and fresh voices.

Featuring:

An opening act by harpist and jazz vocalist Thistle, with percussionist Anna Wray

Featuring new works by members of the NYU Steinhardt Master’s Concert Composition Program:

Erich Barganier and Toshihisa Tsuruoka: “Śūnyatā” for electronics, microphones, and electric guitar Performed by the composers

Nicolas Aguia Betancourt: “Latitudes” for classical guitar Performed by: Sebastian Zel, Nicolas Aguia Betancourt

Cassie Vegaglia: "White Fog" - an electroacoustic work with voice Performed by the composer

Andrew Koss: “Drones and Saxophone (Mvt. I)” for electronics and saxophone Performed by the composer

Leo Chang: “Kouji” for voice and electronics

John Taylor Arnold: “Blurry Music” for piano, flute, double bass, in collaboration with choreographer Polly Jacobs Performed by Chantal Balestri (piano), Patricia Cardona (flute), and Ashley Suh (double bass) Featuring dancers: Ayala Abrams, Grace Stingle, Miriam Rose, Phil Storm, and Meghann Padgett
