BATHSHEBA’S PSALMS, OR, A WOMAN OF UNUSUAL BEAUTY TAKING A BATH

BY APRIL RANGER
DIRECTED BY CHRISTINA ROUSSOS
APRIL 4 - 21, 2019
PRESENTED BY THE TANK

Sexy. Irreverent. Holy. Bathsheba’s voice, celebrated, sung at last. From a biblical rooftop to a warped John Hughes Biology lab and beyond, this unruly adaptation of the infamous Old Testament "love story" capsizes tropes on gender and power. A revelry of sensuality, snark, and fruit, obviously! Written by April Ranger (Must Wash Hands at Brooklyn College). Directed by Christina Roussos (Magic Trick with Caps Lock Theatre).

Featuring Tanyamaria, Elizabeth Kenny*, TL Thompson*, C. Bain*, & Marisela Grajeda Gonzalez.

*Denotes member of Actors’ Equity Association appearing with permission of Actors’ Equity Association without benefit of an Equity contract in this Off-Off Broadway production.

”Simple but creative effects such as this help to make Bathsheba’s Psalms a satisfying visceral experience as well as a thoughtful, cerebral one. When the house lights came up at the end of the performance under review, everyone in the audience seemed to have blissful smiles on their faces. That’s something you don’t see at many shows, even at much more richly appointed ones than this.” - Mark Dundas Wood, theatrescene.net
